The Business Development and Marketing Department is pleased to announce the launch of a series of ‘Virtual’ Town Hall Meetings, designed to provide a platform for insightful engagement with the esteemed leadership of Landmark Medical Center. This unique initiative aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of various administrative perspectives and to address the queries that you, as valued team members, may have.

Our inaugural segment will feature an engaging conversation with our CEO, Mike Souza. During this session, we delved into topics such as hospital capital improvements, critical clinical updates, and the inspiring messages he conveyed to our dedicated staff at Landmark.

Can you share with us some of the recent capital improvements that have taken place at Landmark Medical Center, and how these changes contribute to enhancing the overall patient experience and our commitment to quality care?

MS: “One upcoming capital improvement that I am looking forward to is the upcoming mid-December launch of our new C-Section Operating Room marks a significant improvement in our maternity services. Previously, C-section procedures were carried out in the main operating room, involving a considerable distance to travel within the hospital. Now, patients in labor will remain within the Maternity Unit. With the new C-Section Operating Room just a few feet away, it will greatly enhance both patient experience and employee efficiency, ensuring a seamless and quality-focused process for childbirth.

Another great capital improvement, would be with our new Cancer Center, set to be completed in January, 2024. Moving from its current location to the plaza across the street, this 8,000-square-foot facility will provide infusion services like chemotherapy, office visits for physicians like Dr. Nadeem, and an in-house pharmacy. The strategic relocation, between the Cardiac Rehab Center and Full Circle Health, enhances patient convenience, eliminating the need for back-and-forth travel between Landmark and the Rehab Hospital, and streamlines access to services like radiology work. This initiative reflects our commitment to patient-centric care and operational efficiency.”

Could you provide us with some insights into any recent clinical updates or advancements that have been implemented at Landmark, and how these updates align with our mission to deliver exceptional patient care?

MS: “Quite a recent clinical advancement that we’ve introduced to Landmark is Aquablation Therapy. This an innovative urological procedure utilizing cutting-edge technology, exclusive within a 60-mile radius. Patients undergoing this surgery have experienced exceptional outcomes, leading to increased coverage by health insurance providers, thereby attracting more patients to our hospital. This procedure has notably improved the previous less favorable outcomes of prostate surgeries.

Additionally, celebrating a recent milestone, our Chief of Urology, Dr. Cambio, has successfully cured 50 patients of BPH since introducing Aquablation at Landmark. This achievement further emphasizes the efficacy and success of this innovative therapy in our pursuit of providing top-quality urological care.”

Are there any exciting future projects, initiatives, or collaborations in the works for Landmark Medical Center that you would like to share with our staff?

MS: “Our current strategic focus for growth, complementing our established infrastructure and completed capital projects, centers on securing what I term as “The Medical Staff of the Future.” This approach entails assembling a robust team of skilled physicians within our community. We’re actively engaged in recruiting across 7 to 8 distinct specialties, with both our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Garron Lamp and myself conducting multiple interviews on a weekly basis.”

Could you share a final message or words of encouragement for all the dedicated Landmark employees who play a pivotal role in our hospital’s success?

MS: “As the CEO, I am immensely proud of the dedication and compassion displayed by every member of our Landmark family each day they walk through our doors. Nine years ago, Landmark faced closure, jeopardizing essential medical services crucial for our community. Today, through the unwavering commitment of our team, including nurses, housekeepers, physicians, and others, we have safeguarded maternity care, cardiac services, a bustling ER, and a busy surgical unit, ensuring accessible healthcare for all. Our collective efforts have transformed Landmark into a pivotal community asset, preserving lives daily. It stands today as a testament to our team’s hard work and compassion, a beacon of healthcare excellence, a remarkable contrast to the potential closure it faced before Prime Healthcare’s intervention.”
