- [Research and Scholarly Activity](https://landmarkmedical.org/medical-education/program-and-curriculum-overview/research-and-scholarly-activity/): At the resident level, the primary purpose of research is to inspire life-long scholarship, promote the use and critical evaluation of medical literature, develop the ability to critically evaluate clinical outcomes using scientific method, and enable physicians to translate data in the medical literature into their practices. It is the duty of the Program Director and Core Faculty to provide the environment and opportunity for resident research, and encourage residents to understand research methodology, comprehend informatics, apply study of designs and statistical methods to the appraisal of clinical studies, perform self-evaluation of clinical practice patterns and practice-based improvement, participate in quality improvement and quality assurance activities, develop habits of lifelong learning and scholarly pursuit within their specialty and integrate medical research into patient care. The following four areas are only general guidelines to allow for creativity of a scholarly project in:
- [Lecture Series & Teaching Conferences](https://landmarkmedical.org/medical-education/program-and-curriculum-overview/lecture-series-teaching-conferences/): The didactic programming consists of both lectures and web-based content. Opportunities exist for residents to interact with the presenter and attendance will be recorded. Core lectures will be delivered in a variety of formats with different educators three times weekly. A comprehensive core curriculum will cover both inpatient and outpatient topics. The curriculum will focus on specialty and subspecialty topics emphasizing the medical, pathologic, radiologic, and in some cases, preoperative and surgical management of disease. Residents will be exposed to each topic twice during their training.

- [Education and Responsibilities](https://landmarkmedical.org/medical-education/program-and-curriculum-overview/education-and-responsibilities/): The faculty and staff are dedicated to the training of physicians and protecting the safety of patients. Part of the training includes the teaching and performance of procedural skills. The goals and objectives for each rotation outline expected outcomes in terms of medical knowledge and procedural skills. These goals and objectives are known to both the resident and attending physicians. At the end of each rotation, residents are evaluated by the supervising physician assessing the aptitude and progress of each resident. The program has adopted a 360-evaluation system in which several individuals who worked directly with the resident are also requested to evaluate, among other things, knowledge and skills.

The program currently has 21 categorical residents and 5 preliminary residents.
